Overview Research Dr. Wallisch is a pediatric neurointensivist whose research interests focus on improving care delivery and outcomes for children with acute brain injury. She completed her pediatric residency, pediatric critical care fellowship, and an NIH T32 postdoctoral fellowship in Neurocritical Care Research at UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh and the Safar Center for Resuscitation Research where her early translational work focused on cerebral edema. Throughout her early career she has brought together quality improvement and implementation science frameworks to lay the foundation for the development of a comprehensive pediatric neurocritical care program. Her current research focuses on the development and implementation of a novel approach to detect acute brain injury in infants and children requiring ECMO support using bedside MRI.
