As a principal investigator he has published numerous papers on statistics, health care quality measurement, inpatient falls, and hospital nurse staffing, as well as on patient violence and use of seclusion and restraint in psychiatric care. His collaborative work includes research in federal health policy, pediatric pharmacogenomics, HIV care in Africa, and biomarkers in sinusoidal obstructive syndrome, acetaminophen-induced liver failure, and cancers. Dr. Staggs is also a member of the subject faculty for the Children’s Mercy Bioethics Certificate Program and serves as an associate editor for Research in Nursing & Health.
