The goal of this project is to define the genetic response to bilirubin neurotoxicity in vivo in the classic jaundiced Gunn rat model of hyperbilirubinemia and kernicterus. The long-term objective is to discover actionable genetic targets that could augment current methods to improve treatment of severe newborn jaundice and prevent kernicterus.
